The AK Geneve HMS Automatic Warp is inspired in many ways by Star Trek. Designer Arny Kapshitzer is indeed a huge Star Trek fan, which is clearly reflected in the watch design and in the name of the watch: Warp HMS Automatic.

The unique case design uses a total of 34 screws and combined with the complicated cut glass already hints at sophisticated watch making.
Located eccentrically towards the right of the dial, a cut-away metal piece reveals the jumping hours and minutes on two superimposed discs. The seconds are displayed at 3 o'clock on a cylinder linked directly to the crown. 9 o'clock forms the tail of the spaceship.

AK Geneve is currently manufacturing the watch and the first pieces will be delivered in November.

Coby electronics has announced a pair of new portable, cordless HD Radio receivers. Coby says that the pair of receivers is value priced and allows users to receiver HD2 and HD3 broadcasts as well as FM and AM radio stations.

HD Radio stations are free and often broadcast alongside standard FM broadcasts by radio stations across the country. The two new receivers include the HDR-700 Portable HD Radio System and the HDR-650 Component HD Radio Receiver.

Coby Says that the HDR-700 is the first ever cordless HD Radio receiver. The receiver also features a splash-proof housing and integrated rechargeable battery. The device also has a SD card slot for digital music playback. The MSRP for the HDR-700 is $149. The HDR-650 will retail for $99 and is designed to be added to existing stereo and audio systems. The 650 also has a LCD screen, alarm and sleeper functions.

Panasonic announced the DMC-FZ28 digital camera with 10.1MP and 18x optical zoom.

In 3MP mode the zoom can be enhanced to a whopping 32.1x. For image processing, the FZ28 features the high-speed, high-performance, Venus Engine IV. Thanks to the Venus IV, the FZ28 can snap off consecutive shots at a fast max. 13 frames per second for subjects with fast motion in High Speed Burst Shooting mode.

n High Sensitivity mode, the FZ28 can capture stunning photos with sensitivity up to ISO 6400 in extremely low lit situations.
The engine allows the FZ28 to shoot up to 460 photos (CIPA) on a single battery charge thanks to improvements in power efficiency.

The new Panasonic Lumix 10.1MP DMC-FX37 comes with a 25mm ultra-wide-angle LEICA DC lens and 5x optical zoom (equivalent to 25mm to 125 mm on a 35mm film camera), which captures almost double the viewing space at the same shooting distance compared to ordinary 35mm cameras.

Other features of the Lumix FX37 include new AF Tracking function in iA (intelligent auto) mode, 25 scene modes, face detection with up to 15 faces, up to ISO 6400 sensitivity, 4x digital zoom, and a 2.5 inch screen.

Measurements of the FX37 are 94.7 x 51.9 x 22.0 mm.

Sony announced the BDP-S350 Blu-ray Player back in February. The BDP-S350 has now started to ship on Amazon.com and other retailers.

The Sony BDP-S350 supports BonusView (Profile 1.1) (picture-in-picture), which is featured on select new Blu-ray Disc home video releases, and is also BD-Live ready, with an Ethernet port for easy firmware updates and access to Internet-based interactive content features. A firmware update enabling BD-Live is planned later this year.

So this is important. BD Live is not available out of the box. You will have to wait until Sony releases an update and then upgrade the S350. The Sony PS3 supports BD Live today.

The Sony BDP-S350 also features quick start up mode improving the player’s boot up time to approximately a few seconds and offers an external port for local storage for BD-Live, allowing users to add an optional flash storage device (sold separately).
The MSRP of the BDP-S350 is $400. On Amazon the BDP-S350 sells for $384.99 right now.

creative announced the launch of the new ZEN X-Fi and ZEN X-Fi with Wireless LAN DAPs. The players can play music, video, and photos and are the only DAPs using the Creative Xtreme Fidelity X-FI audio technology.

Creative says that the ZEN X-Fi with Wireless LAN is available today at Amazon, Buy.com, Creative.com, Frys.com and Newegg. The ZEN X-Fi version without wireless LAN will be available later in the month. Creative promises breakthrough sound quality for MP3, WMA, and unprotected iTunes music. The Wi-Fi connectivity allows the streaming of music from your PC to the DAP. The players also include premium earphones.

Both DAPs feature a built-in speaker, 2.5-inch TFT displays with 16.7 million colors, built-in FM tuner with 32 presets, and a built-in mic for voice recording. The wireless LAN version even allows for IM use with Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo messenger. The ZEN X-Fi with Wireless LAN retails for $299.99 for a 32GB model and a 16GB version sells for $199.99. The 8GB Xi-Fi without wireless LAN will retail for $149.99.

Samsung unveils the NV100 HD pocket digital camera with a huge 14.7MP resolution.

The Samsung NV100 HD features besides the 14.7MP resolution, a 3 inch touchscreen, 3.6x Schneider Kreuznach zoom lens, face recognition, smile and blink detection, up to ISO 3200 sensitivity and trashcan support (deleting like on Windows or OS X).

This is not a trick! The globe is not hanging from an invisible thread. It is actually suspended by an impressive electronically controlled magnetic system.

The magnetic head above the globe contains an electro magnet and a magnetic field sensor, and the frame base accommodates the micro-processor and the electronic control components.

The magnetic field sensor records the magnetic field generated by permanent magnets in the globe sphere, and transmits this to the computer. The computer evaluates this data 16,000 times a second and controls the electronic magnets accordingly, accurately moving the globe sphere upwards or downwards.

An additional, permanent magnet in the base holds the sphere safely on the frame when the suspension mechanism is switched off.

This is a superb product, with a heavyweight steel frame and high quality globe - comparable to floating globes retailing for three times as much!

Kodak has added a new super zoom camera to its line called the Kodak EasyShare Z1015 IS. The new camera has a 15x Schneider-Kreuznach Varigon optical zoom lens with image stabilization. The lens has a wide angle setting of f/2.8 28mm as well.

The Z1015 IS has a 10MP sensor and features a best in class 0.22 second click-to-capture speed for fast action shots. The camera also has Kodak’s Smart Capture feature which automatically adjusts settings for the best image in a given scene. ISO sensitivity is up to ISO 6400 at 3MP. The camera will be available in September for $349.95.

Kodak has announced another new digital camera, this time in its M-series. The Kodak EasyShare M1093 Is camera has a 10MP sensor and a 3x optical zoom lens. The LCD on the camera is a 3-inch wide-angle system and it can shoot HD pictures and video.

Other features include image stabilization, intelligent scene detection, intelligent capture control and intelligent image processing. Videos are captured in HD quality with MPEG-4 compression. Sport in videos can also be marked for easy access with video marking, face detection, high ISO sensitivity and a rechargeable battery round out the features. The camera will be available in September for $199.95.
